History; Mexican Embroidery was originally done by the indigenous peoples.  Plant fibers from yucca, palm, and cotton were used to weave motifs onto garments.  Hand embroidery was originally done by using the tip of the agave.  Some Zapotec's  still use this technique for hand embroidery today. Girls of all social classes were taught needle work skills. When Europeans arrived they brought new materials like silks and wool.   Early examples of embroidery were found on white garments with colorful flowers based on the region.

Hand or machine embroidered designs are still popular in Mexico, Central, and South America today.
